Web Worker Digest: Paper Lover’s Edition
In Web Worker Digest by SkellieThe secret is out: a whole bunch of Anywired readers can’t get enough of paper.
In addition to a few general links (for paper lovers and haters alike), I thought I’d share some of the web’s best paper-themed links, including some stuff on paper productivity, paper art, notebooks and Moleskines.
For everyone
Chris Brogan talks about scaling yourself as your online profile starts to heat up. How do you cope with more emails, more interruptions and more requests for your time? His tips center around elimination, learning to say “No” with kindness, learning triage and loop-closing, becoming more decisive and using templates for frequently repeated text and code. On that note, Signature is my favorite Firefox extension ever.
On a related (and belated note), here are seven tips for fighting information overload on Valentine’s Day. The tips would work on any day and don’t seem V-Day specific at all, but it’s a short, sharp post to get you thinking about your information consumption.
Famous-on-the-internet productivity guy Merlin Mann has shared the audio and slides of a 1hr+ talk given at Macworld on attention and time. I was sucked into watching all of it despite having lots of work to do, but I hope that I’ll save more time as a result of listening to the talk than I spent watching it. Maybe. Mann is a good speaker, funny and talks about time-sinks and attention burglars in an engaging way. If you feel like some good productivity video, there you have it.
If your inbox makes you feel sad, 43 Folders (also by Merlin Mann) has a directory of tips and resources on their ‘Inbox Zero’ system.
For paper lovers
View some amazing artworks created from one A4 sheet of printing paper.
The PocketMod is a free disposable personal organizer. Its website has an in-built tool you can use to design and print a ready-made PocketMod.
A lot of you also seemed to be using a Hipster PDA.
For all that money you make because your paper productivity system keeps you so organized, here’s an Instructables tutorial on making a paper wallet (for your paper money).
At PigPogPDA you can learn how to hack your Moleskine into a complete GTD system. If you can’t get enough, Moleskinerie is a blog about, well… you can probably guess!

Great list! Thanks for doing the aggregation. By the way, I wouldn’t have read it if it were the usual “5 billion ways to do X” article, so I’m glad that you resisted the urge to throw a number in the title.

I’ve seen the artworks one before. It’s pretty awesome. The paper wallet is also kind of interesting.

i, for one, could never go completely digital and paper-less. thanks for the links. i particularly like the moleskin hack, although i will probably never pay that much for a notebook.
incidentally, i think it’s a coincidence that i just recently blogged about how i overcame information overload. glad i’ve since discovered bloglines.
